With Mesa, Arizona as his home base Dan is the primary club caller for Mesa Checkmates Square Dance Club. This is his 54th year of calling. He's called in 44 states, 5 foreign countries, and recorded over 90 singing calls/patter songs, currently with Eureka Recordings (Kip Garvey) and attended 32 National Square Dance Conventions

I started dancing in the early 70's when his parents started a class and his little sister didn't have a partner.   I went to thefirst lesson - somewhat dragged - but was hooked almost immediately, and couldn't wait for the next week's lessons.

After dancing in a teen club (Krazy 8's) in San Francisco under the late Dave Stevens,I got to opportunity to try my hand at singing calls and was soon hooked on this part of the activity.  I call beginners through Plus level .  John calls for Mesa Checkmates. I also do one night party dances when available.

Dee Dee started Square Dancing at the age of 3, and was clogging in an exhibition square dance team by the age of 6.  She’s been Calling & Teaching for over 30 years both Full Time & Travelling Nationally & Internationally.  Square Dancing has been her whole life.  She also loves Teaching & Cuing Line Dances!  She works the winter months in Mesa/Casa Grande, Sun City, and Florence, AZ.

     She lives in Minneapolis., MN from May thru Nov. Calling through the Summer on the road and at home.  For the Winter season she works a Full program, here in Mesa, AZ and continues to Fly out for Weekends, Festivals & Conventions.

The Sperry’s are Resident Round Dance Leaders at Towerpoint Resort in Mesa AZ . They teach and cue six sessions weekly for beginners through phase 5 from November through April. They also teach and cue at Sun City, AZ in the Fall and Winter months. They travel to dance, teach and cue at Festivals and events around the Western US during the summer.

Our choreography has been taught and danced in the US, Japan, Europe and Australia. Choreography includes: Around the World. Cueing and teaching since 1981. We teach in Mesa, AZ during the winter, where we host bi-weekly party dances (Ph II-V).
We also host "Mesa Magic" a round dance weekend for Ph II-IV dancers. During the summer, we travel to different festivals and conventions.
